Contextualized by Lysistrata, a play about female revolution set during a time when women had zero political rights, Liz, Marianne, and Gunnila begin to see the complexities of the women’s movement, by understanding that they lack happiness not necessarily because they lack rights. By so clearly and stylishly elucidating this concept, Zetterling proves to be ahead of her time, making the film feel more relevant than ever. Sidney Poitier directed–without much distinction, sorry to say–this 1980 comedy teaming Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor as New York knuckleheads who try their luck in California and are accused of robbing a bank. Most of the laughs concern their survival strategies in prison (at one point, Wilder decides to “reach out and talk” to some hulking murderer) and their plans to escape. Both performers are so brilliant in any situation that they give this film plenty of funny moments (one or two of which became instantly classic), but this is not exactly a film for the ages. –Tom Keogh

That night at the local bar, as level-headed town sheriff Justino and the other regular customers argue about what should be done, the village nut case points his flashlight at them and screams “El Gitano” murdered the girl”. Marcelino, a bitter old man, tells Ramón he must avenge the murder of his girlfriend. In this desolate place, where machismo and brute force rule, Justino, Ramón, Gabriela and others will have life-changing decisions to make..

I really enjoyed the performace of Socorro Bonilla and Socorro Bonilla. The rest of the cast was solid as well. The cast includes Héctor Alterio, Socorro Bonilla, Álvaro Carcaño, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, Ignacio Retes.
